We love German food. In fact most of Kristen's memories of living in Germany involved food. (Mine too.) This dish was served in all of the local cafes and we couldn't get enough of it. Rich broth, tender beef, potatoes, carrots and other vegetables with a tangy paprika flavor. When we got back to the states I tried to recreate the dish, but to no avail. Knorr soups had a packaged mix that was close, but it was too salty, but I made it work. When Knorr stopped making the product for the American market, I was again stuck with trying to recreate this dish. A blogger I love, www.afarmgirlsdabbles.com had this recipe for Hungarian Goulash and with a few additions, subtractions and tweaks, it is pretty close to my remembered goulash. Check out her blog and recipes. Our recipes are stored on Copy Me That, a nifty website that will store all of your recipes, give you the ability to make shopping lists and more. No more binders of recipes that we have to sift through. Copy Me that allows you to search by name, ingredient and more. The website is chock full of great features and is free. You can get a paid version that has even more features. Our recipe circle is under brewedandboozedfood. They did have an app which was phenomenal, but that is currently under reconstruction, but I know you will love the website version. https://www.copymethat.com/r/KNk2552/goulash-suppe/ What is your favorite food memory?
