Across the country the shortage of hand sanitizer has become a real problem, not only for the general public, but for the first responders, hospitals and others on the front lines of this pandemic. Distillers and brewers across the country have tried to meet the need by switching over their operations to make hand sanitizer instead of drinkable alcohol. Some state governments, like Wyoming, have even pitched in to provide grants or funds for the ingredients. With liquor sales dropping, due to stay in place orders, this is a great way for distillers to continue to work. But don't worry, most distillers are aging their brews for human consumption in the future, so it's a win now and a win later. When you go to pick up your sanitizer (if they are selling to the general public) why not pick up a couple of bottles for home consumption? If they aren't selling to the public, continue to buy their products either directly from the maker or at your local store. You'll be supporting those helpers. Also some of the distilleries have donation mechanisms on their websites so if you feel compelled, donate to this most worthy cause, many of the locations listed offer curbside pickup of their spirits and sanitizer. Some offer delivery or shipping so you can get the goods while social distancing. Check their social media before you roll up in case they are closed or in short supply. We have provided a link to the American Distillers Map, which is updated regularly. If you know of a distillery in your area that is not on the map, let us know. Also let us know what you think of this unique opportunity purveyors are taking advantage of you help in this time of crisis. Stay well.
